The Underachivers
The Underachievers are one of three popular up and coming hip hop groups from Flatbush Brooklyn. The duo is made up of rappers Issa Gold and AK, Issa and AK grew grew up just blocks from each other in Flatbush. But they didn’t meet each other until 2007 when AK came over to Issa's house with a friend to smoke some pot. For them it was essentially love at first sight, the two bonded over a shared passion for psychedelic drugs, old school new york rap, and drinking. The two hung out again with juicy and Meechy from the Flatbush Zombies to do some acid together. After that the two decided to form a rap group. The two assumed the name that AK had used when he had started rapping at the age of twelve the Underachievers. The Underachievers released their first track in the middle of 2012 called So Devilish. When the song started drawing some serious attention on youtube the group was surprised and excited. They immediately started working on what would be their first album Indigoism. Indigoism became extremely popular and the group just started gaining more and more popularity from there.
Indigoism
Indigoism the debut album of the rap duo The Underachievers. Although it was written near the start of their career and they are a relatively new group it is already critically acclaimed. Its unique style, a mix of psychedelic rap and old school new york hip hop creates a unique sound that entrances its listeners. As you would assume of a psychedelic rap group the music's theme mainly revolves around drugs and partying. Every track on this album seems to be more hype than the previous, Herb Shuttles the track that initially caught my attention on this album is so intense that it seems like it should be the theme song of a party hosted by Snoop Dogg and Leonardo DiCaprio character from The Wolf on Wallstreet. And the rest of the tracks are absolutely amazing as well, AK and Issa Gold spit some amazing lyrics and the way that their talents compliment each other makes their songs exponentially better.
My favorite tracks on indigoism
Although I didn't feel like the of their other albums deserved a hole section devoted to them they do have some other really good tracks. I will put them here for you to check out
