Isaiah Rashad
Isaiah is one of my favorite rappers because unlike other rappers he exposes what he is really feeling. Songs like Heavenly Father and Shot you Down are amazing not because of their ridiculous lyricism or the beautiful beats but because of the fact that he reveals everything about himself in his music. When you listen to him, you feel for him and understand his struggles. You almost feel like you have lived his life along with him. In Shot You Down he talks about his problems growing up, his suicidal tendencies and the troubles he has had trying to find himself, this song is more than seven minutes long, but I listen to the whole thing every time because of the beautiful and sad story he tells in every verse. And Heavenly Father talks about his life growing up as the son of a preacher and wanting to believe in God but not being able to believe because of the evils that he sees all around him every day. I think that Isaiah is an artist that everyone should listen to even if you don't like rap because his music and message is something that everyone can relate to.
Cilvia Demo
Cilvia Demo is Isaiah's only project as well as one of my favorites of all time. Isaiah is a master of painting a picture for the listeners of his music. His songs are less like songs and more like the unabridged story of his life. He expresses his feelings, story, and struggles through his music, leaving nothing out. At the end of an Isaiah song you feel less like you have listen'd to a song and more like you have met a person. That you have felt and lived through their struggles and that you have learned something about the world, humanity, and yourself along the way.
